How We Calculate Cost Per Page

The formula is straightforward: divide the cartridge price by its rated page yield. For example, an HP 67XL Black cartridge costs around $52 from HP and prints roughly 240 pages, giving a cost per page of 21.7 cents.

We use the manufacturer's stated yield based on ISO/IEC 24711 (inkjet) and ISO/IEC 19752/19798 (laser) testing standards. These standards use 5% page coverage for mono and a standardised colour test page. Real-world yields vary, but the ratio between OEM and compatible stays consistent.

All prices reflect typical Australian retail pricing as of early 2026. Annual savings assume 100 pages per month (1,200 pages per year) using the black cartridge.
